Chinese Invasion

Me at the Great Wall!
Between all the press lately on Tiger Mother Amy Chua and Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to the White House and Chicago, my mind has been wandering East. Maybe the below freezing temps have me wishing I was elsewhere, but I've been reflecting on the trip I took to China in 2007 and the similarities and differences between our cultures.

Living in the U.S. I am always amazed and inspired by the people and places in Europe and Asia that have stories, architecture and artifacts from thousands of years ago and the lessons they hold for us today.

The Golden Triangle
Here in the Windy City we are lucky to have two amazing stores that pay homage to the rich Chinese history: Pagoda Red and The Golden Triangle. Stepping in to either of these stores takes you'll find gallery like spaces that transport you to another world.

Both stores are stocked with some really great new inventory, and many of the pieces are ones that I think would fit right at home in any decor.
